Another whirlwind week has flown on by! I jumped right from moving into a few big and exciting projects, including hosting my first Alt Summit class! I’ll be introducing a few classes a month for Alt and I’m so excited to be working with them. Fellow blogger? Check out the classes right here. I’ve also been prepping for my niece’s colorful rainbow party tomorrow and my project today is to make a rainbow cake. YAY! A few more fun parties in the works, too. Outside of the big birthday bash, this weekend will be full of organizing and unpacking. Can’t wait to get settled in! What are you all up to? Anyone else make a big move this summer? Happy weekend!

We all have blog crushes right? (What are yours??) Well one of mine is Katie’s Pencil Box. I mean, seriously, I want to live in her blog (or maybe she can just adopt me?). She makes every little bit of life with her sweet family so beautiful. She just welcomed a new baby, Phoebe (adorably nicknamed Bee!), into the world and since her due date fell right around her son Max’s 8th birthday, she decided to throw him an early unbirthday party! But not just any party, a messy paint party. She definitely wins #1 mom in every little boy’s book right about now…

Katie kept it simple, splattering an old sheet with paint for a backdrop and making a few of Jordan’s paper dot garlands.

She provided washable paint, in spray form and in buckets, and let the kids go to town outside on a white drop cloth hung from a clothesline! Then she brought out the water slide and water balloons to wash it all off. The fun way.

If you aren’t afraid of a mess, I’d say this is the best idea for an inexpensive and AWESOME birthday party. A special thanks to Katie for letting me share Max’s awesome day, and big congrats on her new addition to the family!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing some pretty scrumptious treats popping up all over the blogosphere lately. Cereal treats, to be more specific. Because plain old rice krispie treats are just too boring now right!? Ok, that may be taking it too far but these five new takes on those classic gooey goodies may have you reaching for a different cereal for your next batch. Or just a few extra toppings…
1. Fruit Loop Cereal Treats: That’s really all I need to say. I was a Fruit Loop freak, and probably still would be if I kept them in the house. Yeah, yeah, this isn’t healthy at all but for a colorful party, you just gotta do it!

2. Golden Grahams S’mores Treats: There are so many s’mores inspired recipes out there right now, I’d love to see someone throw a giant camping themed party and try them all out. These are required to be on the list, and you are required to invite me, too.

3. Trail Mix Rice Krispie Treats: Two classic, nostalgic snacks in one. Ah, bliss. Plus these have an added salted caramel swirl. Double bliss.

4. Reese’s Puffs Cereal Treats: If you don’t like reeses (in some form), then you probably should just stop reading my blog. Ok, don’t actually do that, but I can’t imagine not falling head over heels for everything peanut butter and chocolate. These guys included.

5. Red Velvet Rice Krispie Treats: The grand, royal finale. Red velvet is always so good at that. I can only imagine how awesome these are. Ever tried one!? I’d say it’s time to get on that if you haven’t!

I don’t typically give money or gift cards for presents, but the birthday gift I got for my friend Lauren on the opposite coast required a little something. You see, I got her Fred. And Fred could really use a little spray paint because, well, we love a good pop of color. Since shipping spray paint isn’t exactly an ideal situation, I sent a little money along so she could pick out a color of her own. I decided to craft my own little money holder card using a simple envelope and, yes, another pop of color! This is perfect for birthday gifts or belated graduation presents. Keep reading for this incredibly easy DIY!

Isn’t this green color just fab? Lauren happened to recently paint her dining chairs this color, and I painted my dining table legs the same. Win.

Supply List:
Card
Paper or Cardstock
Envelope template, I used the tiny one from Mini-eco
Double Stick Tape
Sticker for sealing (Optional, but encouraged!)
To Make:
Print and cut out your template. Trace and cut it out from your paper/cardstock. Fold and secure the side flaps to eachother with double stick tape, then fold up the bottom and tape again.

Use double stick tape to adhere the envelope to your card. Insert cash, gift card, a note, whatever! And seal!

And there you have it!
