Amanda of LoveCreative was one of my partners in crime behind Blognic, and she’s going to be helping to give Studio DIY a big facelift in the coming months! She’s a super talented designer, and clearly the creativity runs in the family! I don’t know about you, but Disney princesses were definitely high on my costume list as a kid, and Amanda’s mom created this Little Mermaid costume for her that puts all the store bought varieties to shame.

“My favorite handmade costume was this Little Mermaid costume my mom made for me when I was 3 years old. The Little Mermaid was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. Of course, I don’t remember going, but my mom says that I stood on my seat and looked back at all the people behind me and didn’t watch much of the movie at all. Even so, when it came time for Halloween, I wanted to be Ariel. My mom is an excellent seamstress so she took on the task of sewing this costume herself. She said she was up until 3am October 30th quilting green lamé for the fins. I especially love the big pink ‘shells’ on my chest and my little jellies sticking out of the bottom. This is a classic homemade costume, and it rocks. Thanks mom!”
