Today the lovely Alexandra Hedin is sharing a blast from her Halloween past with us! I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Alexandra through our work together at Alt and she is quite the entertaining expert! Even more entertaining? Alexandra dressed up as a bag of Jelly Bellies! Learn more about it, and her handmade-only costume policy below!
“My favorite Halloween costume was when I was a bag of jelly bellies. I love creating Halloween costumes. Every costume I’ve ever worn was created by myself or my parents. I’ve had loads of favorites over the years, but this one takes the cake. I love the ingenuity of using a trash bag and small balloons to create a simple and {if I say so myself} adorable costume.
My parents made this costume for me. Halloween in Seattle is a notoriously cold and rainy day. All costumes are either made to be weather proof, or they are covered by a large rain jacket. This one is perfect because I stayed warm (notice the layers) and was vaguely rain-guarded. My mom was a home-ec teacher in this era and my dad – the one responsible for the lettering – was an art major in college and loves to create.”
