I’ve followed Sharon’s blog, Cupcakes and Cutlery for some time now. But I really knew we would get along quite well when I saw her son’s Lego Dance party. The coolest party ever. She also lives in SoCal, and I’m determined to meet her face to face one of these days! In the meantime, I have this hilarious impression of Sharon as a 7th grader’s idea of a housewife to keep me laughing!
“My favorite handmade costume was me as a ‘housewife.’ I mean, what 7th grader doesn’t want to dress up as something as super sexy as a housewife two months in to school starting? The gals in the photo with me were my sister, as the sexy can-can dancer and my best friend in all the land as an Egyptian lady. I tended to lean towards humor in my costumes. To put this amazing look together I thrifted the nightgown and robe, wore my slippers and had a remote control and a TV guide in my pocket as well. Why yes, that is a Winchell’s coffee mug hanging off my belt, thanks for asking. I’m not sure why I felt compelled to also have a face mask on, and my hair in curlers, but obviously I considered housewifery to be fraught with beauty treatments mixed with a little TV watching. Being a stay at mom now, I can assure you my days do not look like this. Who has time for a shower, let alone curlers?”

Cupcakes and Cutlery, is a collection of cool. Focusing on parties, kids and modern family life, Sharon shares what she and her family thinks is cool and think you should know about. She’s been blogging for about 5 years and while it started out primarily as a party focused blog it has grown, as her family has, to include the fun things they do as a family, simple craft ideas and the products they love. But Sharon still shares the non-traditional parties she throws for her friends and family. You can take the girl out of the party but you can’t take the party out of the girl.
