Happy Monday! I am so excited to announce this awesome new Halloween series today! I like to call it Bloggers: In Costume and I’m kicking things off with yours truly! You can read more about what the heck I’m dressed up as (psst, I’m on the left!) below, but first let me explain a bit. It was always important to me to have a unique, homemade costume for Halloween and after a quick Twitter conversation with Kira, I knew I wasn’t alone. So I reached out to a few of my favorite bloggers to see what handmade costumes they had sported throughout their childhood (and adulthood!). There’s some serious hilariousness coming your way, every day for the next few weeks! Get ready to start your morning with a laugh. Or, more appropriately, a cackle.

Everyone will talk a bit about their favorite costume, and the story behind it. So here’s mine!
My favorite handmade Halloween costume was a Furby costume! Do any of you remember Furby? They were these incredibly creepy (but awesome, at the time) talking toys that are now making a comeback. My BFF Michelle and I were a little obsessed and put our moms to work designing the craziest Furby costume. We used felt for the costume, styrofoam balls for the eyes, foam for the beaks and needlepoint plastic canvas for the “sensor” (also known as: our way to see and not fall on our faces!). It was by far my favorite costume ever, even though I got asked multiple times if I was a skunk. Not sure what kind of freaky skunks with beaks those people have seen, but I was most certainly not a skunk. I was a Furby, and proud of it!
And there you have it. Funny enough, my mom found my actual Furby in the basement last week. And it was still talking. But anyway! Throughout the weeks of costume sharing, I would LOVE to hear what you guys have crafted and created for your costumes of Halloween’s past. Let us all know in the comments below!
