DIY Blue + Yellow Seattle Inspired Baby Shower

April certainly does bring showers, seeing as rain is in the forecast here in LA today. However, move up the coast a bit and rain is almost always in the forecast, making it a perfect theme for a Seattle-inspired baby shower! It was time to bring a little bit of the Northwest to the other side of the country for this Seattle-native and mommy-to-be. Now, this isn’t just another event… I happen to know the hosts, and I even got my craft on for it from afar! Janice of Bellwether Events and Sara of Bella Notte chose a blue and yellow color scheme, with umbrellas, clouds, raindrops, ducks and all things “shower” themed for everything from the guest book to the desserts. And there’s a lot of DIY and handmade items in here, just how I like it! To give a big ‘ol shout out to Seattle, they asked me to create “ABC” cards based on Seattle landmarks and icons, but more on that below. For now, enjoy Deb Lindsey’s photos of this shower-shower (yes, that was on purpose) on this rainy day.

Sara provided me with a list of icons to use and I got to work creating silhouettes of all of them (and pulling a few from The Noun Project too). They were printed on 5×7 cardstock and used as decoration at the shower! They’ll be great for baby later on once laminated and teething proofed!

Janice handmade the clouds out of felt and recruited a few Etsy vendors for the cupcake toppers (see below for the full details!).

Seattle cake perfection = conquered, thanks to Kendall’s Cakes.

If you live in DC you know that there’s quite the cupcake showdown around those parts. Here, Baked & Wired was served at the dessert bar, and Georgetown Cupcakes were sent home as favors. Who said you had to choose sides!?
